§2 Virtual Credits

The number in the panel is a readout, not a balance

Two thousand credits are on the bench when the page opens. Charting a grid spends some, a cluster returns some, and that is the whole of what the number does.

You cannot buy virtual credits. This site has no checkout, no cashier and no page that accepts a payment, and none is planned. You cannot sell them, hand them to somebody else or move them between accounts, because there are no accounts and no other players to move them to. You cannot withdraw, convert or redeem them for cash, goods, vouchers, tokens or an entry into anything whatsoever.

They are also not stored. Nothing about a session is written to your device or sent to us. Reload the page and the counter sits at two thousand again, which is the most direct proof available that it was never a balance in the first place.

If it runs down to nothing, the game refills it on its own. There is nothing here to lose and nothing to top up.

§3 Free Social Games

A social game, and what that actually rules out

Comet Bench publishes Free Social Games, which here means one page with one demo game on it. You open it and play. There is no account to make, no wallet to fund, no tier to unlock and no moment later on where a price appears. The glass on the grid is counted in virtual credits, and virtual credits stop existing when the tab closes.

Saying so plainly matters, because the format is borrowed from somewhere else. Cascading grids and climbing multipliers are the grammar of real-money products, and that grammar carries expectations with it. None of them apply here: nothing on this page can win you money, cost you money, or be turned into money at any later point by any route.

The closer comparison is a working model in a museum case. The mechanism is real and behaves the same way every time you run it, and the thing it is a model of has been left out on purpose. The Cometarium set is drawn from the instruments a comet-watching bench would actually have kept, and the grid holds up to as much poking as you care to give it.

§4 Charting A Cluster

Clusters, settling and the chain

The bench is six columns wide and five rows deep, so thirty pieces of glass are laid out at once. Five or more of the same piece touching along an edge, up, down, left or right, count as a single cluster and clear together. Touching at a corner does not count. Diagonals never join a cluster, which is what keeps the shapes readable once the tethers are drawn across them.

When a cluster clears, whatever was resting above it drops into the gap and fresh glass enters from the top. If what settles happens to form another cluster, that one clears as well, with no further input from you. A run of those is a chain.

The Fibonacci ladder

Each step of a chain moves the multiplier one position along the track above the grid. This bench climbs on a Fibonacci ladder, so it opens flat at one, holds at one, then goes two, three, five, eight and onward while the tumbles continue. The early steps are gentle and the late ones are not, which is what makes a long run worth watching rather than clicking through.

The panel, control by control

• Stake sets how many virtual credits each chart spends. The two buttons walk it through five fixed values and stop at either end.
• Quick shortens the animation for anyone who would rather not wait it out.
• Chart lays out a fresh thirty.
• Session Net is the distance between what you have staked and what has come back, for this tab only.

All of it runs on your own device, in your own browser. No result is fetched from a server, none is reported back, and nothing survives a refresh.

There is no money and no stake anywhere in Comet Bench, so it cannot cost you anything financially. It can still take up an evening, and a game built on cascades and a climbing ladder is designed to keep you watching. If you catch yourself playing well past when you meant to stop, or turning to something like this to handle stress or a flat mood, that is worth noticing whether or not money is anywhere near it. Take breaks. Put the limit on the clock rather than on the counter.

§7 Staying In Control

Self-exclusion, and the controls that do not depend on us

Most sites in this territory offer a self-exclusion switch that locks your account for a chosen period. We have no such switch to offer, for the plain reason that there is no account to lock. What we can do instead is point you toward the controls that work whether or not a given website cooperates, which are the ones already sitting on your own hardware.

• Browser and network blocking. Every major browser supports extensions that block a list of sites, and most home routers and mobile operating systems ship with the same ability built in. A block set at that level survives any amount of cookie clearing.
• Parental and screen-time controls. Windows, macOS, iOS and Android all include content filters and time limits. These are the right instrument when the concern is somebody else in the household rather than you.
• Dedicated blocking software. Tools such as GamBan and BetBlocker exist specifically to block gambling and gambling-adjacent sites across a device or an entire home network, and they cost little or nothing.

If you have already self-excluded from real-money gambling, or you are working through a programme with a support service, putting free social games on the same block list is a sensible precaution. Money being absent does not reliably mean the trigger is absent, and every tool listed above will treat this site exactly as it treats any other.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is no registration, no form and no input field anywhere on this site that asks for personal information. We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, date of birth or payment details, because nothing on the site would have any use for them.

Game data

Your stake, your credit counter and your session totals live in your browser's memory for as long as the tab stays open. They are never transmitted to us and never written to your device. Closing or refreshing the page discards every bit of it.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. It uses no local storage, no session storage and nothing comparable, and it loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or advertising tags that might set one on our behalf. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Your browser may still keep its ordinary cache of the page files, which is outside our control and contains nothing about you.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server request logs, which can include an IP address, a timestamp and a browser user agent string. They exist to keep the site running and secure, are not tied to any identity, and are never used to build a profile or shared for advertising.

Your rights

Since we hold no personal information about you, there is generally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to privacy@cometbench.com and we will respond.

Acceptance

By using Comet Bench you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may revise them from time to time, and continued use after a revision means you accept the revised version.

Eligibility and age

This site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. By using it you confirm that you meet that age requirement and that playing a free social game is lawful where you live.

Acceptable use

Use the site as it is presented. Do not interfere with it, probe it for vulnerabilities, script or automate play, reverse engineer it for republication, or use it in any way that misleads somebody about what it is. Do not present it to a person under 18.

Virtual credits and no cash value

Virtual credits are a display feature of a demo game. They are not money, not a deposit, not a stored balance and not property. They cannot be purchased, sold, transferred, withdrawn, redeemed or exchanged for anything of value, and they hold no value outside this page. We may change how they behave, or remove them altogether, at any time and without notice.

Intellectual property

The design, artwork, text and code of this site belong to Comet Bench Ltd. or are used with permission. You may view and play the site; you may not copy, republish or redistribute its content without our written permission.
